The Summit County Council has announced a volunteer opportunity to fill one vacancy on the Summit County Restaurant Tax Advisory Committee. The council is specifically seeking an individual from within the boundaries of the North Summit School District.
To be considered, qualified applicants must be residents of Summit County. Additionally, applicants must be employed by businesses that pay the tax or work within a recreational, museum, cultural, convention, or other tourism-related industry located in the county.
The committee is responsible for investigating, advising, and making recommendations to the County Council regarding the most effective uses of funds collected from the tax. These funds are used to finance tourism promotion as well as the development, operation, and maintenance of public tourist, recreation, historical, cultural, and convention facilities.
The role involves an approximate time commitment of 15 hours total. Committee members will be active during March and April, a period during which they will review and score applications using a standard rubric before participating in a two-hour meeting to determine a final funding recommendation.
Interested individuals can submit an application online at https://www.summitcounty.org/806/Volunteer-Boards-Form. The position will remain open until it is filled.
