The council noted that Governor Cox's statewide action provides clear and consistent direction intended to strengthen prevention efforts against human-caused fires.
The council emphasized the potential consequences of fire activity, stating that a single spark has the capacity to cause significant harm to families, neighborhoods, wildlife, open spaces, and emergency responders.

Under the restrictions announced by the Governor, personal fireworks are prohibited within Salt Lake City and across the rest of the state until July 5. There is a possibility that the State Forester may consider extending the statewide prohibition through the Pioneer Day holiday.

The first drone show is scheduled for July 3 at Jordan Park. A second public display will take place on July 24 at Liberty Park.
