From a ribbon cutting for a new gravity bike park in Perry to the expansion of historical markers in Lehi, several Utah communities are highlighting local landmarks and recreational geography this week.
New Gravity Bike Park Opening
In Perry, a ribbon cutting ceremony for the HOP Trail/Kiwanis Gravity Bike Park was scheduled for June 13. The city also continues preparations for its upcoming July 4th celebration, titled "Cheers to 250 Years."
Lehi Historical Marker Program Expansion
The Lehi Historical Society is currently working on the Lehi Historical Marker Program. The initiative, funded by HADCO Construction and Lehi’s PARC Program, aims to place 36 large historical markers throughout the city to educate residents and visitors about local history.
Planned Locations for Lehi Markers
Planned marker locations in Lehi include several landmarks such as the Jordan River Bridge, the Lehi Tabernacle, and the Utah Southern Railroad. Other sites identified for historical markers include the Carter Airport, the Lehi Roller Mills, and the 1983 Flood site.
Seasonal Recreation at Bear Lake
At Bear Lake, seasonal recreation remains a focus with various beach and camping options available across the Utah and Idaho borders. Notable locations include North Beach, which features a two-mile swimming area, and the Bear Lake State Park Marina in Garden City. The Utah side of the lake's eastside includes campgrounds at First Point, South Eden, Cisco Beach, Rainbow Cove, and North Eden.
