First responders from West Jordan Fire and several nearby agencies responded to a house fire in West Jordan shortly after 7 p.m. on August 14.
Upon arrival, crews observed a large plume of smoke rising from a single-family residence.
The first arriving unit found the garage fully involved with heavy smoke and flames that were affecting a vehicle nearby, according to West Jordan Fire Deputy Chief Chris Trevino.
An adult male was found just outside the home and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Trevino did not disclose the nature of the injuries.
Firefighters worked to manage the blaze, which included chasing the fire into the attic and making additional holes in the garage area. Trevino noted that the garage door had fallen and a vehicle parked in the driveway sustained significant thermal or secondary damage from the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Mutual aid agencies that responded to the scene included Unified Fire and South Jordan Fire.
