A fire affecting a roadway led to closures on I-84 in Summit County, according to a September 5 statement from UDOT Traffic.
Closures were reported for westbound I-84 at MP 89 near the mouth of Weber Canyon, as well as eastbound I-84 and northbound US-89 at the I-84 junction.
In an update on September 5, UDOT Traffic stated that westbound I-84 was closed at MP 96/Mnt Green. During that time, an alternate route for commercial drivers and vehicles towing recreational trailers was I-80.
By September 6, UDOT Traffic reported that eastbound I-84 was fully open. However, the westbound I-84 right lane remained closed between MP 89 and MP 88 at the mouth of Weber Canyon.
The estimated clearance time for the initial incident was 2:25 PM on September 5.
