ST. GEORGE, Utah — Utah Tech University’s Institute for Continued Learning is opening registration for the fall semester. The program features more than 70 classes and clubs hosted on the Utah Tech campus.
The Institute for Continued Learning provides a variety of noncredit-bearing classes, clubs, lectures, and activities led by community volunteers. Topics include history, literature, technology, health, arts, and recreation. Classes are held during the day, Monday through Friday, though some courses are available in a recorded online format for flexibility.
New offerings for the semester include CPR Certification Training, Adventures in Science, Engineering and Technology, Introduction to AI and Ethics, Landscape Painting, A Practical Guide to the U.S. Constitution and Laws, Beginning Couples Social Dance, Wilderness Survival, and Pickleball Fun for Newbies.
Returning favorites include Geology, Brainworks: A Toolbox for the Mind, History of Washington County, Native American Flute, Creative Writing, and Folklore and Mythology. Other courses cover water conservation, cooking, science, literature, finance, law, art, music, health and wellness, philosophy, personal growth, sports, and exercise.
Members can participate in various clubs such as piano, Native American flute, hiking, skiing, table tennis, personal exercise programs, and desert archaeology. The program is designed to allow individuals to explore interests and connect with others without tests, grades, or pressure.
Cynthia Holman-Schmidt, executive director of the Institute for Continued Learning, stated that the program thrives due to the curiosity and enthusiasm of its members. She noted that the organization aims to strengthen the community through lifelong learning, meaningful friendships, and volunteer service.
Registration is available at icl.utahtech.edu. A live registration event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 29 in the lobby of the Udvar-Hazy Business Building on the Utah Tech campus. This event includes opportunities to meet other members and take a campus tour.
Fall programming begins Sept. 8. The Institute for Continued Learning is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that offers annual memberships for $90 or semester memberships for $60, which include unlimited enrollment in available classes.
