Utah Outdoor Recreation is hosting a series of free, hands-on ATV courses throughout the summer and fall to help students fulfill the state's required Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) youth education requirement.
Course details and objectives
The program provides a four-hour training session that combines interactive classroom learning with practical exercises. According to Utah Outdoor $Outdoor Recreation, the course aims to increase rider safety, promote sustainable on-trail operation, and ensure participants are aware of Utah's OHV laws and rules.
Requirements for course participants
Participants must bring an ATV to the training sessions. The process requires students to first complete a 30-minute online E-Course before attending the scheduled in-person session.
Utah OHV education regulations
The state requires all OHV operators to complete an education course. While adults 18 and older must possess an approved adult certificate, operators under the age of 18 are required to hold a youth OHV education certificate to operate an ATV on public roads, trails, or lands.
Upcoming training schedule and locations
Upcoming course dates include June 20 in Millard County, June 26 in Weber County, and July 11 in both Summit and Sevier counties. Additional sessions are scheduled for August, September, and October in Wasatch, Cache, Uintah, and Salt Lake counties.
