Kirk Cullimore is a Republican serving as Utah State Senator for District 19, which includes areas in Salt Lake and Utah counties. He assumed office in the district on January 1, 2023, after previously representing District 9 from 2019, and was elected Senate Majority Leader in January 2025. Cullimore is an attorney and former music educator and small business owner, raised in Sandy, Utah, and a graduate of Utah Valley University, Brigham Young University, and the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Utah has authorized a state-funded clinical study to investigate psychedelic-assisted therapy for veterans suffering from treatment-resistant PTSD. The initiative follows the signing of House Bill 390 by Governor Spencer Cox.
