An officer-involved shooting occurred in Nephi around 5:00 a.m. Aug. 30, resulting in one person being pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a report published Aug. 30.
Nephi City Police responded to a dispatch call concerning a domestic violence incident involving a weapon. While the female suspect had fled the scene prior to the initial arrival, a Nephi City Officer later responded to a known residence of the suspect.
According to a press release from the Nephi City Police Department, the officer attempted to take the suspect into custody upon identification. The suspect was armed with a firearm, and shots were fired during the encounter. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A male present at the location was taken into custody. The officer involved was not injured, and officials stated that no other information will be released at this time.
