The Utah State Library Division is managing its budgetary decisions based on recent updates regarding federal funding for library services. The Institute of Museums and Libraries, the federal agency responsible for issuing Grants to States program funding for Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA) grants, has published its Congressional Budget Justification for Federal FY2026.
While IMLS will continue to manage current grants, it will not distribute further funding, and the agency is scheduled to close as of September 30, 2026.
The Utah State Library Division stated that it will maintain its current LSTA federal funding, which is approximately $2.3 million, through September 30, 2026. Although changes may occur at the federal level, this information is currently guiding the division's budgetary decisions for the foreseeable future.
Several grants are currently open, including Grants to Schools, the 2026 ATALM Conference, the Koha Aspen Migration Grant 2026, the Community Library Enhancement Fund (CLEF) 2027, and the UPLIFT Professional Development Grant for June 2026.
