In a meeting held on July 21, 2026, the Millard County Board of Commissioners approved the appointment of Steve O’Camb as Interim County Sheriff. The decision was reached during a session held at the courthouse in Fillmore, Utah, where commissioners also addressed various administrative and infrastructure matters.
During the meeting, the Commission unanimously approved Resolution 26-07-21, which appoints Steve O’Camb to the role of Interim Sheriff. Following the vote, Clerk Rowley administered the oath of office to O’Camb.
Other administrative actions included the approval of several purchasing card requests. The Commission approved cards for William Stewart in the amount of $9,000.00, Gregg Skeem for $2,000.00, Steve O’Camb for $10,000.00, and Britney Oppenheimer for $1,500.00. Additionally, the Commission approved a purchasing card increase for Hollie Miller to $5,000.00 and for Pat Bennett to $5,000.00, while deciding not to increase the limit for Lindsay Mitchell at that time.
Regarding infrastructure and interlocal agreements, the Commission approved three agreements for Road Oil Distribution Services with Sanpete, Beaver, and Washington counties. These agreements are scheduled to be brought back for formal approval via resolution at a future meeting. The Commission also ratified an amended agreement with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that increases the daily rental rate for the racetrack and road building to $400.00 per day. The resulting revenue is to be split equally between the Road Department and the Recreation Department.
A public hearing was held to discuss the vacation of several Class D roads and a proposed alternate route related to the Notch Peak Project. During the hearing, the Bureau of Land Management expressed concerns regarding the vacation of roads 4184 and 3989, noting the need for continued public access to public lands and wells. Brian Harris, representing the Notch Peak Project, stated that the project aims to maintain access for all property owners and that the proposed new road could be designated as a Class D or Class B road.
Following the hearing, the Commission voted to support the class D road vacations and the proposed alternate route for the Notch Peak Project for consideration by UDOT. While the motion passed, Commissioner Lyman expressed opposition to the motion.
Additionally, the Commission reviewed the status of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. Jessica Anderson of the County Housing Authority Board stated that the voucher program is not currently available in Millard County because there is no approved housing authority authorized to administer it.
The meeting concluded with the approval of two business licenses for Range Plumbing and Make'n Space Self Storage. The Commission also approved the award of a bid for a telestack conveyor belt to Hurricane Machine Sales and approved a list of surplus items from the Sheriff’s Office.
