Lacrosse playoffs for Lehi-area teams are scheduled to begin this Thursday. The Skyridge girls lacrosse team enters the 6A state tournament as a top contender, holding an 8-0 region record and a 17-1 overall season record.
The Falcons are ranked first in 6A by both RPI and MaxPreps, and hold the number one ranking statewide according to MaxPreps. The league champions will host the winner of the matchup between No. 16 Westlake and No. 17 Layton in the second round on Thursday. A default start time of 4 p.m. has been set, though this may change based on school agreements.
The Skyridge girls' next potential contest would be on Saturday, May 16, against the winner of the match between No. 8 Herriman and No. 9 Copper Hills. While the team has not played the Thunder, Lancers, or Grizzlies this year, they did defeat the Mustangs in their final regular season game. Their only loss this season came against a nationally-ranked private school in California.
In the boys division, the Skyridge boys enter the second round with a 14-2 overall record and a 3-1 region record. They are ranked second in 6A by RPI and MaxPreps, and fifth statewide according to MaxPreps. The Falcons will host No. 15 Copper Hills on Thursday at 4 p.m., or an adjusted time. The winner of that game will face either No. 5 Bingham or No. 12 Lehi in a quarterfinal match on Saturday.
Lehi girls lacrosse enters the tournament with a 10-8 overall record and a 4-4 region record. After receiving a first-round bye, the Pioneers will visit No. 6 Syracuse on Thursday at 4 p.m. or an agreed-upon time. Lehi previously lost a close game to the Titans in March and has defeated the Cavemen twice this season.
The winner of the Lehi girls' second-round match will advance to face the winner of the No. 3 Mountain Ridge and No. 14 American Fork game on Saturday.
The Lehi boys lacrosse team, holding a 7-9 overall record and a 1-3 region record, also received a first-round pass. They are scheduled to play No. 5 Bingham on the road this Thursday at 4 p.m., subject to time adjustments.
The winner of that matchup will advance to face either No. 2 Skyridge or No. 15 Copper Hills on Saturday, with the higher seed hosting the game at 1 p.m.
