The Summit County Library provides a variety of borrowable items through its Library of Things program. This collection includes technology, educational tools, and recreational equipment for community use.
Streaming and internet access options
For entertainment and connectivity, the library offers streaming devices that allow users to stream content such as movies and TV shows via services including Netflix, Max, Paramount+/Showtime, and Kanopy. Mobile hotspots are also available for portable wireless internet access.
Media playback and projection tools
Media playback options include DVD players, Blu-ray players, and Blu-ray/DVD/CD external drives. For larger viewing experiences, a Full HD 1080P projector is available for movies, gaming, or outdoor events, though the screen is not included.
Educational and health monitoring kits
Educational and scientific kits are part of the collection. Users can borrow an Energy Detective Kit to examine home energy usage, as well as an induction cooktop kit. For health-focused items, the Summit County Library is partnering with the Summit County Health Department to offer self-measured blood pressure monitoring kits.
Outdoor gear and recreational games
Outdoor and recreational items include a beginner-friendly telescope for stargazing, yard games, and board games, which can be checked out for two weeks with a limit of two games at a time. Sports equipment includes a pickleball kit featuring racquets and balls, as well as a disc golf beginner set.
Specialized backpacks for young patrons
For younger patrons, the library offers Little Naturalist Backpacks for exploring nature and Stress Relief Backpacks designed to teach children about managing stress. The collection also includes Flags of the World and United States flags.
Status of 3D printing services
While most items are available for checkout, 3D printing services are temporarily unavailable through the Kamas Valley Branch while staff training is conducted.
