The inaugural Ogden Mountain Film Festival is scheduled to take place on Nov. 5 from 7-9 p.m. at Peery’s Egyptian Theater, according to a report published Oct. 20. The event, organized by the Trails Foundation of Northern Utah, seeks to highlight local adventure and art by showcasing short films focused on the outdoors, recreation, and the landscapes of Ogden.
The festival is open to submissions from both seasoned and aspiring filmmakers. Aric Manning, the Executive Director of the Trails Foundation of Northern Utah, noted that while many people capture footage on cell phones or GoPros, that media often remains stored on computers without being viewed. He stated that the festival provides an opportunity for filmmakers to showcase footage captured around Ogden and for audience members to see the area's seasonal offerings. The evening will also feature an awards ceremony that includes a Best in Festival award and other honors based on category submissions.
Tickets for the event are priced at $20, or $15 for members of the Northern Trail organization. All proceeds from the festival will be used to help preserve the trails located in Ogden. Information regarding ticket sales and short film submissions is available at www.tfnu.org.
The Trails Foundation of Northern Utah began in 1995 operating under the name Weber Pathways before rebranding to its current title in 2020. The organization is dedicated to the protection and preservation of Ogden's outdoors and trails. Aric Manning, who has been a resident of Ogden and a local hiker for over 25 years, has served as the director of the foundation for seven years. Manning stated that the festival has been in development for three years, following initial conversations about the idea that began approximately a decade ago.
