Willard school officials released an update on September 28 regarding upcoming activities and safety procedures for the week of September 28 through October 2, 2026. Principal Tawnie Bowcutt noted that students have been demonstrating responsibility and kindness through the school's "The Willard Way" initiative.
Scheduled activities for the upcoming week include bus evacuation training on September 29. This annual safety training is conducted by the transportation department and involves students practicing on a parked bus in front of the school without leaving the grounds. On October 2, students will participate in Utah's statewide Read-a-Thon from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event, titled "Cozying Up with a Good Book," invites students to wear comfortable clothing or pajamas while reading together.
The school issued several safety reminders for parents regarding morning and afternoon arrivals. To ensure student safety, the school requested that parents avoid parking south of the school in the morning due to bus activity and instead utilize the car drop-off system. During afternoon pick-up, parents are asked to remain in their vehicles in the car line until they reach the west curb. Additionally, any changes to a student's transportation method must be communicated to the front office, ideally before 3:00 p.m., rather than messaging teachers directly.
The weekly lunch menu includes biscuits and gravy or grilled cheese sandwiches on Monday, chicken and cheese tamales or grilled cheese sandwiches on Tuesday, popcorn shrimp baskets or grilled cheese sandwiches on Wednesday, chicken Alfredo or grilled cheese sandwiches on Thursday, and pizza breadsticks or grilled cheese sandwiches on Friday. Breakfast is available for a fee from 8:40 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for all students.
In recent recognitions, the classes of Mrs. Lindsay and Mr. Morgan won both the Golden Spatula Award for lunchroom behavior and the Attendance Eagle Award. These classes will retain the awards in their classrooms until new winners are announced next week.
