Ogden-based singer-songwriter Alexis K has released her first EP, titled Summertime Angel, according to a September 16 report by The Ogdenite. The indie-folk project focuses on honest reflections regarding past relationships.
The title track of the EP uses seasonal imagery to describe relationships where a fairytale was destroyed by resentment. Alexis, who was raised in Clinton, Utah, stated she intends for her music to feel like a page from a personal diary, aiming to help listeners feel okay about being honest about their experiences rather than feeling ashamed.
The music video for Summertime Angel was filmed underneath the 24th Street bridge in Ogden, featuring views of the mountains, river, and trains. The production also included visuals shot behind Amir Jackson’s studio at the Ogden Union Station. Alexis noted she worked with local figures Amir Jackson and FilmLite Media on the project.
A deluxe version of Summertime Angel containing two additional tracks is expected soon. Alexis K was scheduled to perform the new songs at the 4th annual Speakeasy event on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m.
