Creekside Elementary recently hosted a series of community events and programs designed to support student engagement and academic growth. These initiatives included a summer reading program and a back to school open house.
The school's summer reading program supported the Davis Reads 45 Days of Summer challenge. During the program, nearly 50 people including students, parents, and siblings visited the library each week to check out books and participate in activities. For every five days of reading, students earned a 3D-printed book charm. The program concluded with a Read-a-thon Luau held on Aug. 6 at the Creekside Elementary Library.
Creekside Elementary also highlighted its Peer Mentor Program, which focuses on fostering a sense of belonging. Student mentors completed thousands of visits to support their peers, aimed at building friendships and improving attendance to create an inclusive school community.
The school hosted a Back To School Open House on Aug. 19 from 3 to 4:30. Additionally, the school released information regarding the 2026-2027 VEX IQ Robotics Team, which included competitive and non-competitive teams for 4th through 6th graders.
In the Davis School District, principals Sarah Burk and Linda Horsley received statewide honors from the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals (UAESP). Sarah Burk was named Community Leader of the Year, while Linda Horsley was named School Improvement Leader of the Year.
Davis School District has also partnered with Waterford Upstart to provide an on-demand early learning program for PreK children. This program offers tailored software in reading, math, and science for children entering kindergarten in Fall 2027.
