The Nebo School District announced the success of its Annual Backpack Giveaway, an event designed to help students start the school year prepared and supported. The initiative relied on partnerships with Tabitha’s Way Local Food Pantry, the Light the World program, and numerous local organizations.
According to a notice from the district, the event provided 1,200 new backpacks to local students. In addition to school supplies, 1,258 free books were gifted by the United Way Welcome Baby, and 757 lunches were served with assistance from the Utah Food Bank.
More than 18 community partner agencies were on-site to provide resources. The event was supported by volunteer hours from district staff, the Spanish Fork Football team, the Spanish Fork Rotary Club, and local neighbors.
The district noted that the event serves to bring the community together and connect families with vital resources. The initiative aims to support students ranging from single parents facing transitions to families navigating rising costs.
