Benjamin Christopher Orlob has been accused of ordering his dog to attack a man near the 3125 block of Wall Avenue in Ogden, according to a September 8 report. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, October 5, left the victim in serious condition with severe physical injuries.
Ogden Police Department agents responded to the scene where they found several people holding a dog while emergency personnel attended to a man. Witnesses stated they saw the dog attacking the man, resulting in deep lacerations to the victim's hands, arm, head, and face. Agents reported that upon their arrival, the victim's skull was partially visible and one ear appeared to be severed.
Orlob was located by police hiding behind a vehicle at a nearby dealership without a leash in hand. While Orlob claimed the dog slipped its leash and that he unsuccessfully attempted to stop the animal, arrest documents stated he was not near the site of the attack and allegedly attempted to flee the scene. The victim stated that the owner had ordered the pet to attack him.
Orlob was booked into the Weber County Jail. He faces charges of aggravated assault, allowing a dangerous animal to run at large, and possession of marijuana.
