Mayor Rob Vanderwood stated that the restriction is a statewide order intended to protect lives, homes, businesses, farmland, and emergency personnel. The order comes as firefighters respond to an unprecedented number of human-caused wildfires across the state.

The Mayor noted that while the ban is disappointing during the 250th Anniversary of America, current fire conditions leave no responsible alternative for celebrating with traditional fireworks.
Penalties for order violations
Violators of the Governor's Executive Order may be subject to a fine of up to $1,000 under Utah law. West Haven City has stated it will fully support and enforce the statewide order.
