Timpview High School FCCLA students represented Provo City School District and Utah on the national stage this summer, bringing home an impressive collection of medals and five Top 10 national finishes from the National FCCLA Leadership Conference.
Leading the group was Abbigail Kelley, who earned a Gold Medal and placed second in the nation in Chapter in Review Display.

Learning Beyond the Classroom
FCCLA, or Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, is one of the Career and Technical Student Organizations available to students through Career and Technical Education. CTSOs give students opportunities to take skills learned in the classroom and apply them through competition, leadership, service, communication and real-world experiences.
Across Provo City School District, students can participate in several CTSOs connected to different CTE pathways, including FCCLA, HOSA, TSA, ProStart, DECA, FBLA and SkillsUSA.
The Timpview students' success highlights the combination of technical knowledge and durable skills that CTE programs are designed to develop. Preparing for national competition requires students to communicate clearly, solve problems, work collaboratively and demonstrate their abilities before judges and peers from across the country.
Utah FCCLA State Adviser Aubrey Turnbow Frandsen congratulated the students and thanked Timpview and district leaders for supporting opportunities that allow students to represent their school, community and state.
With five entries finishing among the best 10 in the nation, Timpview FCCLA students returned home with plenty to celebrate and another example of what students can accomplish when classroom learning extends beyond the classroom.
