Utah State University Eastern has partnered with Intermountain Electronics to provide paid internships in the electrical and welding fields. The program is designed to allow participants to gain on-the-job training while maintaining a classic college experience.
No prior experience is required for the 90-day internship. Participants will earn college credits and have access to all campus student resources.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED before the first day of the internship. Those accepted into the program will earn a minimum of $14 per hour, with potential for more based on qualifications and experience.
All internship coursework is conducted on-site at Intermountain Electronics. The program covers 100% of USU tuition and fees for the internship courses, as well as housing costs in the Tucker or Burtenshaw Residence Halls and a meal plan consisting of 160 swipes.
Interns typically follow a work schedule from Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, and Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. While lunch breaks are typically 45 minutes at 12 pm, schedules may vary by crew. Interns will follow the Intermountain Electronics holiday schedule rather than the university schedule.
The Fall semester begins August 31, 2026, and the Spring semester begins January 11, 2027. Space is limited each semester.
To apply, individuals must complete a USU Admissions Application as a non-degree-seeking student, submit an Intermountain Electronics employment application with a resume, and apply for housing through USU Eastern.
