Bridge Construction
Project Overview
The George Washington Bridge Project will construct a new bridge connecting
George Washington Blvd to Crosby Way. The project is designed to improve
regional connectivity in the cities of St. George and Washington, as well as to
reduce existing and future delays at key intersections. Improvements began in
February 2026 and will be completed in Summer 2027.*

40% FINISHED!
Our project is 40% complete and no thanks to ‘Mother Nature’ who
continues to swell the Virgin River leaving a large debris field every time. It
takes our team a few days to clean up. That being said, we are still on
schedule.
This weekend could be another storm event. Please stay out of the Virgin
River in our construction zone. High water events are dangerous, and the
river is closed through our site.
Our reinforcing ironworkers continue to tie coated rebar into place on deck
spans one, two and three. They will complete this phase on Wednesday, and
the deck on these three spans will be poured Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday. Our skilled ironworkers will then move to deck spans four, five and six.
The structural work of installing stabilizing diaphragms between
the fifth set of girders is finished, and we are installing these between the
sixth set of girders.
The forming of the overhangs along the edge of the bridge continues for
several weeks.
Work on the project will be suspended from Friday, September 4 at noon
through Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day Holiday.

Materials continue to be brought onto the project site from Crosby Way.
All users of the Virgin River Trail need to stop at the designated stop
signs to allow safe passage for equipment and users. We appreciate
your patience and help in maintaining a safe environment.
