The City of Moab has invited community members to attend an open house on June 22, 2026, to discuss the Cross Creeks Corridor study. The session will focus on proposed drainage improvements and trail revitalization for the section of Mill Creek located between Main Street and 500 West.

The event is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center, located at 111 East 100 North.
Project Goals and Objectives
The Cross Creeks Corridor study focuses on developing concepts for Mill Creek Trail restoration and drainage improvements. The project goals include increasing flood capacity, restoring public access to the trail, and stabilizing the creek channel to create a more resilient corridor.

According to Moab City Manager Michael A. Black, the project represents an important investment in community connectivity and flood resilience. He stated that the progress made in developing the conceptual framework helps address stormwater impacts while restoring park and trail amenities.
Primary Community Priorities
The project addresses two primary community priorities:
Flood Mitigation and Restoration Plans
Flood Mitigation and Creek Restoration: Following historic monsoonal flooding that caused erosion between 100 West and 500 West, the Public Works Department and consulting engineers have developed plans to widen and stabilize the creek channel. This is intended to allow floodwaters to move through the corridor more safely.
Restoring Trail Access and Connectivity
Mill Creek Parkway Trail Access: After flooding events caused extensive damage and subsequent closure of the pedestrian trail, planners are working on engineering challenges to integrate a new trail alignment within the stabilized corridor.
Community members are encouraged to attend the open house to review proposed concepts and share ideas. City Manager Black noted that public input will be valuable in shaping a vision that reflects community priorities and ensures lasting benefits.
