The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the locations for the Campo Grande Brazil Temple, the Goiânia Brazil Temple, and the Medellín Colombia Temple. Additionally, a rendering of the Spanish Fork Utah Temple was released.
Worshipping in temples is central to Latter-day Saint beliefs. President Dallin H. Oaks stated that the end is always on the covenant path through the temple to eternal life, which he described as the greatest gift of God.
The Campo Grande Brazil Temple was announced in April 2025. It is planned for a 5.6-acre site at the intersection of Nelly Martins Avenue, Cigana Street, and Rio Negro Street in Carandá Bosque, Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. The single-story temple is planned to be 11,300 square feet.
In Brazil, where over 1.5 million members reside, five temples are currently under construction and seven additional temples have been announced. The Belo Horizonte Brazil Temple was scheduled for dedication on August 16, 2026.
The Goiânia Brazil Temple, announced in October 2023, will be built on a 5.54-acre site at the intersection of Rio Verde Avenue, Captain Breno Street, and Professor Hélio França Boulevard in Loteamento Faicalville, Goiânia, Goiás. The single-story temple is planned to be 18,850 square feet.
The Medellín Colombia Temple will be built on a 3.05-acre site at Carrera 52#4-96, Guayabal, in Medellín, Colombia. The single-story temple will include an ancillary building and measure 10,471 square feet. This will be the fourth temple in Colombia, joining the Barranquilla and Bogotá temples, while the Cali Colombia Temple remains under construction.
In Utah, which is home to nearly 2.2 million Latter-day Saints, the Spanish Fork Utah Temple was announced in April 2025. Including the Spanish Fork temple, there are 32 temples in the state that are either in operation, under renovation, under construction, or have been announced.
Latter-day Saints worship in temples to feel God’s love and peace, learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ, make promises with God and spouses, and participate in sacred ordinances intended to unite families in this life and the next.
