The Eastern Summit County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing for general plan updates on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026. The meeting will take place at the County Courthouse in Coalville, located at 60 N. Main St.
During the hearing, the planning commission will review proposed amendments to the general plan, listen to public comment, and vote on a recommendation for the County Council. The Eastern Summit County General Plan serves as a long-term framework for development and growth within the Eastern Summit County Planning Area.
This update follows changes in the region's population, development patterns, transportation needs, housing, and water resources since the existing plan was adopted. The update process involved county staff, the planning commission, and community input from the Our Summit community visioning process. This input helped identify priorities such as housing options, transportation, community character, open space, trails and recreation, and access to local services.
Interested individuals can attend the public hearing in person or via a Zoom webinar. The draft general plan and staff report are available for review at summitcounty.info/eastsidedraftplan.
