Clearfield City police officers encountered a group of teenagers in a city park on a Monday night and discovered firearms and various contraband substances. According to a Clearfield City Police statement, the group was found in a park that was closed at the time of the encounter.
Officers reported finding illegal vapes, guns, marijuana, and alcohol during the encounter. One breathalyzer test resulted in a reading three times over the legal limit.
The Clearfield City Police Department issued a request to parents to know where their children are and who they are with. They also urged parents to discuss the consequences and dangers of alcohol, drugs, and firearms, and to ensure firearms are kept locked and secure.
The department noted that the proactive contact by officers prevented a potentially much more serious incident. All city parks are closed at midnight, with the exception of Island View Park, which closes at dark.
