A 16-year-old e-bike rider was critically injured Thursday evening, August 13, after being struck by a truck in downtown Salt Lake City.
First responders were dispatched to the intersection of 500 South and 300 West at approximately 5:42 p.m., according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
Police said the teenager was traveling southbound through the intersection when he was struck by a westbound pickup truck that had a green light.
The 16-year-old was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Police noted that the teen was wearing a helmet, which may have saved his life.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene following the collision.
The crash remains under investigation by authorities.
