Emmy award-winning journalist Jane Clayson Johnson will participate in an upcoming forum at BYU.
Journalism Career Highlights
Johnson is widely recognized for her journalism work at CBS News in New York and ABC News in Los Angeles, as well as her role as a regular guest host on two nationally syndicated programs at NPR based in Boston.
Educational Background and Early Career
Johnson began her professional career at KSL Television in Salt Lake City. She is a BYU graduate with a degree in broadcasting, having originally attended the university on a violin performance scholarship.
Published Works and Personal Books
In addition to her news career, Johnson is the author of two best-selling books. Her 2007 book, I Am a Mother, documented her choice to leave network news to focus on her family. Her 2020 book, Silent Souls Weeping, provides a personal examination of individuals suffering from depression.
Leadership Roles and Board Memberships
Johnson has held several leadership and board positions, including serving on the boards of Deseret Management Corporation and the Wheatley Institute at BYU. She also serves as a member of the President’s Leadership Council at BYU-Pathway Worldwide alongside her husband, Mark Johnson.

Recently appointed as a Trustee at the U.S. Naval Institute Foundation, Johnson currently resides in Boston with her family.
