According to a press release from The Newswire, James Walker, the President and CEO of Ares Strategic Mining who was in attendance on Friday, said that the opening of the fluorspar plant is a new chapter for the company. “We have reached the moment when years of permitting, mine development, engineering, construction and financing have become a working U.S. mine-to-plant operation. Ore is being mined, trucked to our facility and run through the plant. Friday gives us the opportunity to recognize the team, shareholders, public-sector partners and local community who helped turn that plan into physical infrastructure,” he said. According to the press release, the plant is important towards creating a domestic supplier of Flurospar and its byproducts. The opening ceremony also aimed to celebrate the State of Utah’s impact on the opening of the mining operations. According to The Newswire, Ares Strategic Mining was given an $11 million loan from the State of Utah to support its operations. Walker also said that he’s proud of the progress his company and Utah have made. “The support we have received in Utah has allowed Ares to move from plans and engineering drawings to mine development, processing infrastructure and physical production. We are proud to celebrate this milestone in Delta with many of the people and organizations that have supported the project, and we look forward to showing what has been built,” Walker said. Rep. Mike Kennedy, a Republican candidate for the new District 3 seat in Utah, was also in attendance. County vacates 12 Class D roads inside solar project area
