St. Mary's has announced the hiring of Maria Villar as the new Director of Charity, a position she began in early January. A long-time parishioner, Villar brings experience in charitable outreach and ministry to help serve the community.
The St. Mary's Charitable Assistance Program offers services to anyone in the community experiencing hardship, regardless of religious affiliation. The program provides financial support for partial amounts of overdue essential bills or rent, depending on available budget resources.
Assistance is available exclusively for residents of Summit and Wasatch Counties. While the program does not provide housing assistance, it recommends contacting Mountainlands Community Housing Trust for permanent housing solutions. Due to high request volumes and limited resources, applicants should expect a response within one to two weeks.
In addition to financial aid, St. Mary's operates several community ministries:
Food Bank and Diapers Grab 'N' Go: Accepts nonperishable food donations such as rice, oil, beans, canned goods, and vitamins. The food bank is open Tuesdays from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Old Town Chapel Hall.
Gabriel Project Ministry: Provides baby clothing, diapers, toys, and supplies to expecting mothers and mothers of young children.
Sandwich Ministry: Volunteers gather on the second Wednesday of each month to prepare sandwiches for local homeless shelters.
St. Mary's continues to work with Summit County and community partners to assist those in need locally. The organization has historically provided significant resources in food, clothing, and financial assistance to struggling families and individuals.
