The Park City Community Foundation has announced a partnership with the inaugural Chef's Table Festival to expand food waste diversion efforts among participating restaurants this August. The initiative aims to support the foundation's Zero Food Waste movement by covering diversion costs for more than half of the restaurants involved in the four-day culinary event.
Inaugural Festival Brings Global Chefs
The Chef's Table Festival, scheduled to take place from August 13 through August 16, will bring more than 70 of the world's most celebrated chefs to Park City. According to the Park City Community Foundation, the festival offers a four-day culinary experience featuring exclusive collaborations and rare access to renowned chefs. To support the foundation's mission, the organization is offering a 25% discount on full festival packages for its supporters using the code PCCF25.
Expanding Restaurant Sustainability
Through the new partnership, the Park City Community Foundation will cover the costs of food waste diversion for over half of the restaurants participating in the festival. This effort is designed to allow visiting chefs to practice their sustainability values while cooking in Park City. For restaurants interested in continuing these practices beyond the festival, the foundation is offering nine months of free food waste diversion as part of its new Zero Food Waste business incentive program.
Fundraising Dinner at Alpinist
Alpinist, located in Deer Valley, will participate in the initiative by attempting food waste diversion for the first time. On August 14, the restaurant will host an intimate fundraising dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to benefit the Zero Food Waste initiative. The event is restricted to guests aged 21 and older and will feature a menu developed by several world-renowned culinary figures.
International Culinary Collaboration
The August 14 fundraising event will feature courses from Chef Inés Páez Nin of Aguají in the Dominican Republic and Chef Jaime Rodríguez of Celele in Cartagena, Colombia. These chefs, alongside chefs from Alpinist, will provide an intentional menu accompanied by wine pairings led by vintners from Redhawk Vineyard. Both Páez Nin and Rodríguez are noted for building their restaurant operations around biodiversity, research, and respect for local ingredients.
Zero Food Waste Initiative Goals
The partnership supports the Zero Food Waste initiative, which seeks to eliminate food waste from the Summit County landfill by 2030. Since its launch in June 2024, the movement has successfully diverted more than 1,000 tons of food waste through the participation of residents, businesses, and organizations. The foundation is currently establishing programs for both residential and commercial food waste collection to reach its long-term goals.
