Becca Moore, MSEd, MAEL, has been appointed as the new principal at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Sandy. Moore joins the school following experience as a director of student support and reading interventionist at the Skaggs Catholic Center schools.
Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Wyoming and completed an alternative route to licensure in elementary education at the same institution. She earned a master’s degree in education, curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in reading and literacy from the University of Kansas, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Notre Dame. Additionally, she is a licensed practitioner for the Wilson Reading System, a literacy intervention program for individuals with dyslexia or reading deficits.
Her teaching career includes work in a Montessori school and with the Head Start program. After moving to Utah, Moore served as a Pre-k, kindergarten, and first-grade teacher. She has expressed honor in becoming the next leader at Blessed Sacrament, noting the school's long-standing faculty and a community deeply rooted in faith.
Moore outlined three primary goals for her tenure: enhancing the school's Catholic identity, expanding academic programs to serve diverse learners, and increasing school visibility to grow enrollment. She stated that a Catholic education provides a faith community that acts as a partnership between families, educators, the Church, and Christ.
She noted that Catholic education provides academic rigor and develops critical thinkers, while also fostering virtue and character. Moore invited anyone interested to visit the school, describing it as a hidden gem in its neighborhood.
Moore, who considers Utah her home, has two adult children who graduated from Juan Diego Catholic High School. In her personal time, she enjoys reading, decorating, walking her dog, Mumford, and re-purposing furniture.
