A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Salt Lake, UT on August 13. At 6:44 PM MDT, radar indicated severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Salt Lake City to Draper to near Eagle Mountain.
The storm system was moving east at 40 mph and carried a hazard of 60 mph wind gusts. Officials warned that the weather could cause damage to trees, siding, and roofs.
Impacted locations included Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Provo, Sandy, Murray, West Jordan, Orem, Taylorsville, South Jordan, Lehi, Draper, Riverton, Pleasant Grove, Cotton Heights, Midvale, Holladay, American Fork, South Salt Lake, Herriman, and Eagle Mountain.
The warning also affected specific highway segments, including Interstate 15 between mile markers 266 and 304. Additionally, Interstate 80 in Utah was impacted between mile markers 124 and 131, and between mile markers 135 and 138.
