The Saratoga Springs Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with the March 28, 2025, murder of a woman and her 8-year-old son, according to a report published August 14.
Jessica Lyman and Eli Painter were both found with gunshot wounds inside their residence on March 28, 2025. Despite efforts to save them, both victims succumbed to their injuries.
The teen was taken into custody and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. The Saratoga Springs Police Department stated that because the suspect is a juvenile, his identity is not being released at this time.
Detectives have screened two counts of 1st-degree murder with the Utah County Attorney’s Office. Those charges will be presented to the appropriate court once a decision is reached regarding whether the individual will be charged as a juvenile or an adult.
The incident began when patrol officers responded to a medical assist call at 1244 N. Willowbrook Lane. Upon arrival, officers located 43-year-old Jessica Lyman and 8-year-old Eli Painter suffering from gunshot wounds.
