Jefferson Park is undergoing significant improvements driven by the Parks, Trails, & Open Space General Oblates Bond approved in November 2022. As a selected Reimagine Neighborhood Parks site, the park is receiving investment to activate underutilized space and increase access to green areas for the community.
In addition to bond funding, a CIP funding application has provided for the installation of several smaller amenities and a lighted pathway along the perimeter of the park. These efforts follow a playground replacement project that Public Lands began in mid-2023.
The project is currently in the design phase, with two proposed concept designs under consideration.
Concept 1, titled Heart of the Neighborhood, focuses on blending function and form. This design aims to provide essential stormwater management services while revitalizing green space to increase safety and use through expanded play areas and gathering spaces.
Concept 2, titled On the Go, seeks to create a safe environment for all ages using flexible open space and the addition of two loop paths. This layout includes an improved event space to support community activities.
Public engagement remains a central component of the project timeline. SLC Public Lands will offer both online and in-person opportunities for residents to provide feedback on the future of the park.
A Jefferson Park Open House is scheduled for February 18, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Publik Coffee Roasters located at 975 S W Temple St, Salt Lake City. This event is being held in collaboration with the Central Ninth Community Council.
