Alpine City scheduled a free shredding and eWaste recycling event at City Hall, according to a notice posted to the city's website. The event was scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The city accepted various recyclable electronics, including cell phones, computers, laptops, keyboards, tablets, MP3 players, iPODs, hard drives, printers, stereos, fax machines, CD and DVD players, and flat screen TVs. However, batteries, light bulbs, and CRT TVs were not accepted.
For paper recycling, residents were asked to remove paper from 3-ring binders and remove metal binder clips. Staples and paper clips were considered acceptable. There was a limit of three boxes per household.
