Fasitootai Sagapolu has been selected by his teammates to wear the No. 3 jersey for the Utah Tech University Football 2026 season, according to an August 28 announcement. The fifth-year defensive lineman will be the fifth different Trailblazer to wear the number since the tradition began prior to the 2021 Spring season.
The annual awarding of the No. 3 jersey honors the memory of Abraham Reinhardt, a former Trailblazer football player who died unexpectedly on March 22, 2019. Coach Lance Anderson, who took over the program three years ago, stated that the tradition is important for the team to understand what the jersey represents.
Sagapolu, a St. George, Utah native, is coming off a 2025 campaign in which he started all 12 games. During that season, he recorded 48 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. He previously missed the entire 2024 season due to injury.
Coach Anderson noted that Sagapolu was chosen because he exemplifies leadership, hard work, toughness, trust, and accountability. Sagapolu stated that being chosen by the team represents the group and that the honor holds him to a higher standard both on and off the field.
Utah Tech is scheduled to begin its first season as a member of the Big Sky Conference on Saturday, August 29, when they host Montana State at Greater Zion Stadium.
