Statement on the shooting of Charlie Kirk

University of Utah Communications -

Today, Utah Valley University witnessed a horrible act of campus violence in the shooting of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk.

This unspeakable attack is disturbing and frightening. University of Utah leaders are closely monitoring the situation. University of Utah Public Safety is in close contact with local, state and federal law enforcement peers.

The U’s Public Safety will be increasing patrols on campus to make police officers available to speak to students, faculty and staff who are concerned about these events and safety on campus. Additional public safety patrols and layers of security will be present at university events today and the rest of the week. More information will be posted at alert.utah.edu (https://alert.utah.edu/) as it becomes available.

The university is open, including U of U Health Hospitals & Clinics.
