The Iron County School District has managed several administrative updates, including discussions regarding the 2026-27 school year calendar and the implementation of new communication tools.
In a notice posted to the district's website, it was stated that the Board of Education was scheduled to consider a change to the 2026-27 school year calendar during a regular board meeting on Aug. 25. While the board previously approved a traditional calendar for the 2026-27 school year, officials noted they would continue to discuss different options.
Regarding district communication, the Iron County School District announced the adoption of ParentSquare as a new platform to replace Remind. This change was intended to help keep parents and students more connected and informed.
The district has also been involved in ongoing discussions regarding school boundaries. The Board of Education scheduled a public hearing for a boundary proposal on Feb. 17. Previous discussions included small tweaks to proposed boundaries impacting East, South, North, Iron Springs, and Three Peaks schools. These boundary reviews were noted to be in preparation for the opening of a new East Elementary building in the fall.
Additionally, the district has explored the possibility of a four-day school week. Superintendent Dr. Lance Hatch has addressed the potential benefits and negative consequences of such a schedule during district discussions.
