Some residents in Lindon are raising concerns regarding a possible location for a new Timpanogos School District school bus transportation facility. Neighbors are urging district leaders to remove the site from consideration for the future center.
The district is currently evaluating an open field located within a Lindon neighborhood as one of the potential locations for the facility.
Local residents living near the property expressed worries about how the project could impact their families. Resident Kayla Ditty, whose backyard borders the land, stated her primary concern involves health risks such as chemical emissions, gasoline, and diesel if the site becomes a bus depot.
Other community members have also voiced opposition via social media. Resident McKelle Siebert highlighted concerns regarding increased bus traffic on neighborhood roads, noting that the roads are tight and contain many blind curves. Siebert also expressed concern regarding exhaust and carcinogen exposure.
The Timpanogos School District stated in a Facebook post that it is still exploring all potential possibilities for building a transportation center and has not made a final decision. The district noted that evaluating sites is part of the planning process and that a center is needed.
Ditty suggested that the district should look for a location in an industrial area away from residential neighborhoods. The school board was scheduled to discuss the issue during a meeting on Tuesday at the Special Education Building in Lindon.
