UBTech Invites Community to Celebrate New Salon with Ribbon Cutting and Open House
After announcing plans in 2025 to bring a Nail Technician program to Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech), the college is excited to invite the community to celebrate the next milestone with the official ribbon cutting and open house of its newly completed salon space.
The original announcement shared UBTech’s vision for expanding training opportunities in the beauty industry to meet local workforce needs. Community interest and enthusiasm further confirmed the demand for the program, helping launch the planning and development process that began in 2023.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting on Tuesday, October 13, at 1:30 p.m. on UBTech’s Vernal Campus. Following a brief program, guests are welcome to tour the new salon, explore the space, and learn more about the opportunities the Nail Technician program will provide for students across the Uintah Basin.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet instructors, discover career pathways in the beauty industry, and gain insight into what students can expect through the Nail Technician program. Community members who attend will also be entered for a chance to win future salon services.
The Nail Technician program provides hands-on training and industry-relevant skills that prepare students for state licensing and employment. Available to both high school students and adult learners, the program offers daytime and evening options to fit a variety of schedules. Scholarships are available to help reduce training costs and support students as they begin a rewarding career.
Individuals interested in enrolling are encouraged to submit an application by October 1. Due to strong interest in the program, students will be selected through a lottery process. Applicants selected through the lottery will be contacted to verify eligibility requirements and continue the enrollment process, including applying for scholarships. Applicants who are not selected are encouraged to apply again for future start dates and will receive additional points for previous application entries in subsequent selection rounds.
“The community response to this program has been incredible,” said Michiel Bostick, Vice President of Instruction at UBTech. “The completion of this salon represents more than a new learning space. It reflects our commitment to providing students with hands-on training that leads directly to meaningful careers and meets the workforce needs of our region.”
