Brookwood Elementary has earned a 'Best in Utah' distinction, ranking 20th in the state and 5th within the Canyons School District, according to a notice from the district.
The school's ranking was part of the U.S. News & World Report's 2026 list of the Best Elementary Schools in Utah, which includes 580 elementary schools across the state.
In the Canyons School District, 22 elementary schools placed among the top 40 percent in Utah, earning a 'Best Schools' display badge. Other top-ranked K-6 schools in the district include Sunrise at number one, Peruvian Park in fourth, Lone Peak at 15th, Willow Canyon at 18th, and Draper Elementary at 25th.
Additionally, four Canyons schools placed within Utah's top 50, including Park Lane, Canyon View, Oakdale, and Butler elementary schools.
Regarding middle schools, six of the district's eight middle schools earned 'Best Utah Middle Schools' status. Three Canyons middle schools ranked in the state's top five, led by Albion Middle in third, Butler Middle in fourth, and Draper Park Middle in fifth. Eastmont, Indian Hills, and Union middle schools were also noted among those achieving top-50 status.
The U.S. News rankings are based on state test scores regarding student proficiency in math and reading. The methodology weights test scores equally with the school's socioeconomic demographics. The rankings utilized math data from 2022-2023 and reading data from 2020-2021, as Utah had no reported reading assessment data for the 2021-2022 school year.
