The Downtown Tooele Alliance held its Wizard Fest on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, transforming the heart of Tooele into a magical marketplace filled with themed vendors, food trucks, and enchanted festivities at the Merc Plaza.

The event, which took place at the Merc Plaza located at 28 North Main Street, focused on creating an immersive wizarding environment. According to the Downtown Tooele Alliance, the streets were intended to come alive with the flicker of enchanted lanterns and a variety of spellbinding performances.
Attendees explored a magical marketplace featuring vendors from across the wizarding world. The event showcased specialized craftsmen, including wandmakers and potion masters, alongside food trucks offering themed delicacies such as butterbeer and pumpkin pasties. The Downtown Tooele Alliance noted that the celebration aimed to foster a sense of fellowship and friendship among the community members.
Scavenger Hunt and Incentives
The Wizard Fest festivities included a scavenger hunt designed to engage participants in the wizarding theme. The Tooele City Arts Council reported that the scavenger hunt was organized in conjunction with the Downtown Tooele Alliance.
Participants who successfully completed the Downtown Tooele Alliance scavenger hunt earned free entry to the evening's concluding movie screening. For those who did not participate in the hunt, tickets for the film were available for $2.00.
Evening Cinema at the Ritz
Following the outdoor festivities, the celebration moved to the Historical Ritz Theatre. The Tooele City Arts Council announced that the theater hosted a screening of 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 1, 2026.
Before the film began, prizes were distributed at the Ritz to those who had completed the downtown scavenger hunt. The movie screening served as the final scheduled event for the Wizard Fest programming at the theater.

The Wizard Fest was part of a broader weekend of enchantment in the Tooele area. In addition to the activities at the Merc Plaza and the Ritz Theatre, the Downtown Tooele Alliance suggested that visitors could find further wizardly themed fun at the Tooele Train Museum.
