Huntsman Cancer Institute has received several national honors recognizing its excellence in cancer care, research, nursing, and healing-centered facilities, according to an August 5 statement. These recent accolades underscore the institute's dedication to advancing cancer care and improving outcomes for patients and families worldwide.
The institute received an A+ rating from Money, which selected honorees after reviewing more than 6,000 hospitals based on treatment quality, research strength, and provider experience. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report recognized the institute as the number one cancer hospital in Utah and the Salt Lake City metro area, designating it as "High Performing" nationally for cancer care.
U.S. News & World Report also found that the institute excelled in several specific areas, earning a High Performing rating in lung cancer surgery, as well as prostate, gynecological, lung, and colon cancer surgery, and leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma care.
Becker's Healthcare included the institute on its 2026 list of 100 hospitals and health systems with great oncology programs, noting its integrated approach to genetic research and the management of more than 400 active clinical trials.
In nursing recognition, Nursegrid named the institute a 2026 Great Workplace for Nurses. This inaugural recognition was based on feedback from 50,000 nurses nationwide regarding whether they would recommend their workplace to another nurse. Julia Beynon, MHI, RN, senior nursing administrator at Huntsman Cancer Institute, stated that the recognition reflects the extraordinary skill, compassion, and dedication nurses show to patients and families.
The Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women's Cancers has achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its sustainable design and construction practices. Alyson Harding, senior director of patient support at Huntsman Cancer Institute, noted that sustainable design helps reduce energy and water use and contributes to the healing experience through better lighting and ventilation.
Bradley Cairns, PhD, CEO of Huntsman Cancer Institute, said the institute's greatest achievement is the trust patients and families place in the organization during challenging moments. He noted that while national recognitions are appreciated, they reflect the dedication of the physicians, researchers, nurses, caregivers, staff, and trainees working to deliver exceptional care.
