Washington County issued a request for proposals on September 2 to construct flood mitigation infrastructure at Legacy Park in Hurricane, Utah. According to the request, the project aims to improve storm water handling and flood mitigation capabilities through the construction of a new detention basin and associated earthen drainage infrastructure.
The project scope involves the physical excavation, grading, and construction of a permanent detention basin. Additionally, contractors will be responsible for the construction and stabilization of earthen drainage infrastructure, including channels and spillways to manage water flow and containment. The work is based on provided engineering specifications rather than design services.
Prospective bidders must attend a mandatory pre-bid meeting on September 23, 2026, at 9:00 AM MST at the Legacy Park Fairgrounds in the Harmony Building. Failure to attend this meeting will result in disqualification from the bidding process. Proposals must be submitted by 2:00 PM on September 30, 2026, to the Washington County Public Works office in Saint George.
The county will evaluate submissions based on construction experience with earthwork and drainage projects, as well as overall proposed cost. Proposals will be opened publicly on October 2, 2026, at the Washington County Administration Building. The county reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and makes no guarantee that the project will proceed.
