A personal fireworks ban was in effect in American Fork from July 2-5, 2026. The restriction coincided with statewide limitations that temporarily suspended city maps showing permissible fireworks discharge areas.
While the ban prohibited most consumer fireworks use, professionally conducted displays by State of Utah-certified operators with necessary permits remained allowed.
Mayor Brad Frost stated that American Fork City upheld Governor Spencer Cox’s Executive Order prohibiting personal fireworks discharge within city limits. The decision followed recommendations from the American Fork City Fire Chief and Fire Marshal.
According to Mayor Frost, the restriction was prompted by ongoing drought conditions, extremely dry vegetation, and firefighting resources being stretched thin across the state. He noted that the current environment presented a heightened risk to homes, businesses, and open spaces.
Officials requested that residents and visitors respect the temporary restriction to protect the community. Residents were encouraged to contact non-emergency dispatch at 801-763-3020 if they observed fireworks being discharged.
In his statement, Mayor Frost also included a pause to honor lives lost in recent fires across the Utah-Colorado border.
