Centerville City maintains a network of more than 30 miles of trails spanning the local foothills and the Great Salt Lake shoreline, according to city information. The city utilizes a specialized Trails Committee to advise the Mayor and City Council on the establishment of new public trails and related recreational programs.
Diverse Trail Networks
The city's trail system includes diverse routes such as the Bamberger Trail, which runs through the heart of Centerville, as well as Deuel Creek and Ford Canyon trails that lead into the mountain areas. These paths are part of a broader effort to provide developed open space and recreational opportunities for residents.
Committee Oversight
To manage these assets, the Trails Committee acts as an advisory body to the City Council. The committee is tasked with recommending and promoting policies, programs, and facilities that meet the recreational needs of Centerville citizens. The group consists of no fewer than five and no more than seven members.
Advisory Operations
The Trails Committee meets at 8 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month at Centerville City Hall. Current committee members include Jacob Santini, Allen Phelps, Mark Pearson, and Jaclyn Black. The committee also utilizes resources such as a Draft Trails Master Plan and previous community surveys to guide its recommendations.
City Governance
The committee's recommendations are presented to the Centerville City Council, which is led by Mayor Clark Wilkinson. The council, composed of members Gina Hirst, Cheylynn Hayman, Brian Plummer, Robyn Mecham, and Rick Bangerter, meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month to adopt ordinances and determine city goals.
