The Tooele Kiwanis Club held its annual 5K Freedom Run on Saturday, July 4, 2026, beginning at Settlement Canyon and concluding at the Tooele City Swimming Pool Park following a route that utilized the city's parade path.
Race Route Details
According to race organizers, the event began at 8:30 a.m. with participants traveling from Settlement Canyon past the toll booth down to Main Street and State Road 36. The route then turned north on Main Street toward Skyline Drive, where it merged with the official parade route.
Following the parade path, runners moved west on Utah Avenue and south on 200 West before reaching the finish line at the intersection of 200 West and Vine Street. Race officials noted that while registration was closed by the time of the event, water stations were positioned along the parade route to assist participants.
Logistics and Course Stats
The race course covered approximately 3.1 miles with a total elevation gain of roughly 31.3 meters. Organizers established a registration area located just past the toll booth at the bottom of the hill, characterized by a large gravel area featuring picnic tables and portable restrooms.
To ensure smooth operations, runners were instructed to look for signs indicating both the check-in location and the official start line, which was situated approximately 1.5 tenths of a mile past the registration area.
Awards and Refreshments
Post-race festivities included the distribution of water and watermelon at the finish line. The event concluded around 11:00 a.m., following the start of the city parade which began at 9:00 a.m.
Awards were presented to the first, second, and third place finishers in both the male and female overall categories, as well as for the top three performers in each individual age group.
Pre-Race Preparation
Prior to the race, participants were encouraged to pick up their race shirts and bibs at Premier Utah Real Estate on North Main Street between July 1 and July 3. Organizers noted that early registration was recommended to increase the likelihood of receiving a race shirt.
