The Lauren McCluskey Foundation will host the 2026 Race for Campus Safety on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. This annual, community-driven event is dedicated to raising awareness and funds to improve how colleges and universities respond to relationship violence and stalking.
Participants can choose from several race distances, including a 1K, 5K, and 10K, or participate via a virtual race option. Registration for the 1K, 5K, and 10K events is priced at $10, $35, and $45, respectively, while the virtual race is available for $10. Registration for all race types is scheduled to end on October 31, 2026, with the 1K, 5K, and 10K registration closing at 10:30 a.m. MDT and the virtual registration closing at 12:00 a.m. MDT.
The event features various activities and guests, including educational booths, community resources, inflatable obstacle courses, and yard games. Planned mascot appearances include Bumble the Bee from the Salt Lake Bees, Leo and Cleo from Real Salt Lake, and the University of Utah mascot, SWOOP. Following the 2025 event, which included more than 800 participants, organizers aim to grow the momentum of the race in 2026.
Inspired by the life and legacy of Lauren McCluskey, the race seeks to advance campus safety, accountability, and student well-being. Proceeds from the event directly support the foundation's research, advocacy, and programming intended to help make campuses safer across the nation.
Individuals interested in participating can register on the race website. Registration for the various race distances is scheduled to conclude on October 31, 2026.
